Now is an ideal time for secondary teachers to make the move, as Immigration New Zealand has put secondary school teaching on tier 1 of the green list, the straight to residency pathway. Of course you don’t have to apply for residency immediately, it just means that you don’t have any qualifying time working here to be eligible.
You can still apply for an Accredited Employer work visa with a job offer from a New Zealand secondary school who is an approved accredited employer. Talk to us at Prospero Teaching about this as we know which schools can offer this.
Did I mention the NZD$10,000 relocation grant? That’s right. If you arrive to take up a role that meet the criteria before June 30 2025 then you’re eligible to claim this. It would reimburse all of the costs associated with compliance to become a teacher such as qualification assessment, teacher registration, police checks, language test (if appropriate), visa and even flights. Definitely helpful with making a move to a new country.
Take a look at some of the jobs we currently have available, on the careers page of our website. Schools are recruiting now for roles to begin at the start of the academic year, which in New Zealand is around the end of January/early February.
Over the years our team has collectively helped thousands of teachers make the move so reach out today to find out how we can help you.
